In Colombo, Sri Lanka, Gareth worked for 18 months with the country's leading commercial station TNL Radio. He helped to set up a social action program called TNL Action. Partnerships were formed with government ministries (e.g. Transport for ‘TNL Deathbusters’), aid agencies (e.g. Red Cross for ‘TNL Lifeline to First Aid’) and sponsors (Dettol, Disprin, AST Computers, etc.) Two of the highlights were 'Sri Lanka's Biggest Ever Party' (an outdoor Christmas party for 1,400 children in need) and the formation of Sri Lanka's first ever National Aids Helpline, (in partnership with the Red Cross and with sponsorship by Mobitel) for World Aids Day.

NAB recognised TNL Action by awarding TNL Radio with the NAB International Award for Broadcast Excellence in 97. In his assessment of TNL's victory, NAB CEO/President Eddie Fritts said:
"Their outstanding commitment to public service and outreach illustrates perfectly how broadcasters can make a difference in people's lives."

Gareth is now working on an exciting new digital storytelling project: BBC Wales' Capture Wales Cipolwg ar Gymru.

He also produces websites like the BBC's Welsh learners' site, Catchphrase.
